Holland Scarth – Mclean Deluxe [Album]

There’s something to this funky introduction to Cincinnati producer Holland Scarth. The album is a collaboration with rapper Devin Burgess. McLean Deluxe is a slow drawling jam session of seemingly re-purposed ’80s-era soundscapes. The nine tracks feature an array of heavily reverberated snares, spacey pads and syrupy vocals. Definitely worth a listen. Continue reading Holland Scarth – Mclean Deluxe [Album]

Ostinato – Memory Loss [LP]

Ostinato’s Memory Loss is nine tracks of nonstop action. The Australian producer crafts his latest LP using a blend of juke elements, house, and bass sensibilities. He employs droning backdrops, quickly paced drumwork, button mashing blips and synth leads that sound like they’re powering up a space vessel into warp drive. Listen to this one and take a trip down memory lane…in the fast lane. Continue reading Ostinato – Memory Loss [LP]

Noyce – Moment’s Good [EP]

When should you start listening to this EP? This moment’s good. Actually, this one folks…you should download immediately. Noyce, UK producer, released Moment’s Good on Oct. 10th and it’s his second release this year that I’ve fallen in love with. And, now he’s someone that’ll be on my radar forever. His previous oddly-titled release Shmank set the tone for what he’s all about: downtempo electronic music with all … Continue reading Noyce – Moment’s Good [EP]

Charles Murdoch – “Chips” & “Chains” [Free DL]

Australian producer Charles Murdoch continues to make these phenomenal downtempo jams and give them away for free. If he was a car salesman his name would be ‘Crazy Charlie’ for his unbelievably generous spirit. “…Practically giving these away for FREE. That’s right, for free….” He’s not offering up lemons either (like some seedy salesman might), but chilled out house/hip-hop blends that could easily be packaged and sold. If you’re … Continue reading Charles Murdoch – “Chips” & “Chains” [Free DL]

Octo/Leagues – Octo/Leagues [Beat Tape]

There isn’t a day where I don’t think, “Damn Australia, you fine. Your beat scene? Amazing. And dat ass.” It’s true though. I was talking to Holly from East to West a while back and she said it like this, “One day everyone just dropped their guitars and picked up keyboards.” And, thank Allah for that. From artists like Ta-ku to Charles Murdoch to The Blank–it’s … Continue reading Octo/Leagues – Octo/Leagues [Beat Tape]

Charles Murdoch – “Only ke” [Free DL]

Charles Murdoch, Brisbane based producer, drops some kick-back-and-relax, downtempo bass music on the regular. Press play and “Only ke” opens up by thumping like a heartbeat. Only that’s no human heart. It’s an electo-bodied AI, I, Robot heart—gadgets fire up, subtle elements click and control panels slink on. You’ll want to download this track. Continue reading Charles Murdoch – “Only ke” [Free DL]

Ta-ku – D U S T Y Volume 2 [Beat Tape]

Awwwwww yeah, I like it dirty. Ta-ku—Australian producer extraordinaire, Red Bull Academy alum, hip-hop aficionado, yadda yadda—dropped the second volume to his D U S T Y beats series today. Let me just say, you can’t spell beats without beast and Ta-ku is a beast on this release. He’s manipulating these old soul records into static heavy productions. If you’re a fan of Apollo Brown, Knx, bugseed, … Continue reading Ta-ku – D U S T Y Volume 2 [Beat Tape]
