Germany might be the least funny country in the world, but at least their beat making skills aren’t terrible. In fact, Rookie Round, a German producer collective, are showing me that they’re actually not bad at all. Volume Eins showcases eight producers who specialize in creating sample shifting, soul chopping, bass knocking tremors. Dope. Not all these beats are successful. Some are quite boring. As I’m listening I’m thinking, “Oh, I’ve only heard something like this a billion times before, nbd.” But, “You & Me”, “Space Invaders”, “Grdn” and a handful of other boom bap creations are definitely crisp productions. And, definitely awesome. Listen to this.
